President Ruto Visits Homa Bay, Leaves the Tongues Wagging

President Ruto Addressing Homa Bay Residents

President Ruto on Sunday, 2nd of October 2022 attended a church service in Homabay leaving the heads turning with the region having voted overwhelmingly for his opponent in the August general election, Rt. Hon. Raila Odinga.

It was the first visit by the Head of State to a county in the Nyanza region following his swearing in as the President of Kenya.

The President pledged to work with all leaders irrespective of their political affiliations, honor the Bottom-Up Economic Charter signed before the elections, complete pending projects started by President Uhuru Kenyatta and launch affordable housing programs with every constituency in Homa Bay county getting a TVET.

Homabay Governor Gladys Wanga who was elected on ODM ticket under Azimio la Umoja was in Mombasa when the President visited the county. Netizens faulted her absentia with many arguing that she could have easily flown to the county to welcome the President before returning to Mombasa for her official visit.
