Former Vice President Hon. Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka has threatened to go to court to put on hold the decision by the National Assembly Speaker Rt. Hon. Moses Masika Wetangula to name Kenya Kwanza as the majority party in the national assembly.

Claiming manipulation, the Azimio La Umoja - One Kenya Political Party principal is hoping that the courts will name Azimio La Umoja - One Kenya Political Party as the majority party resulting in the coalition "controlling" the National Assembly through the lucrative positions of Majority Leader, and Majority Whip.

The Speaker had pronounced 14 legislators belonging to Pamoja African Alliance (PAA), Movement for Democracy and Growth (MDG), Maendeleo Chap Chap (MCC) and United Democratic Movement (UDM) as part of the Kenya Kwanza coalition.

Before the landmark decision, with the four contested parties having been associated with Azimio La Umoja - One Kenya Political Party before the election, the Kenya Kwanza had effectively been relegated to the minority party despite being the ruling party.

However, the Azimio Coalition failed to avail the relevant coalition agreement that tied the 14 legislators elected on the contested parties to Azimio by the hip.

The 14 legislators further wrote to the Speaker dissociating themselves from Azimio, and asserting that they were part of the ruling coalition, Kenya Kwanza.

After the landmark decision by the Speaker, a commotion by legislators affiliated to Azimio La Umoja - One Kenya Political Party had ensued in Parliament building.

Former President of the Law Society of Kenya and senior member of Havi & Company Advocates Nelson Havi had dared Azimio legislators to "test the pedigree of their coalition agreement vis-a-vis the Speaker's decision in a Court of law instead of resorting to anarchy, chaos and violence in the National Assembly".

Do you think Azimio will win this battle in court? Was the ruling by the Speaker justifiable? Let us know in the comments below.
